Jewelry Laser Services

The laser welder allows jewelers to do their jobs better. This jewelry laser services technological advancement is becoming increasingly common in trade shops and manufacturing facilities. By using a sharply focused beam of light to produce very high heat in a small area, lasers allow jewelers to routinely accomplish tasks that would once have been either impossible or too time consuming to be worthwhile.

Time savings translates into higher productivity. The laser's concentrated heat also facilitates delicate repairs without risking further damage to fragile antique jewelry.

With the laser welder, you're keeping the integrity of the piece by not removing heat-sensitive stones, and you're able to keep the patina, the look that an old piece of jewelry has. That patina tells a story, and when you're trying to repair or restore that piece with a conventional torch, you lose it. The piece of jewelry gets oxidized, the colors change, requiring that one needs to polish the piece.

Jewelers are discovering that laser welders can save time and money in jewelry manufacture. With the accuracy of the laser, we can do very complicated pieces and diamond intensive pieces, and are able to assemble them after the diamonds are set. As well you can polish the pieces before assembly that results in a better finished item. Assembling with a laser is very quick and very easy.

Not only assembling, but as well with a laser you can repair defects in milliseconds to fuse a hole.

These are just some of the specific ways to use laser welders:

  • Re-tipping
    Jewelers have long re-tipped gold prongs near diamonds without removing the diamonds from their settings. This can be perilous with platinum prongs and impossible with heat sensitive stones such as emerald and opal. The laser's concentrated heat makes it possible to use this technique with almost any setting.
  • Repairing stainless steel
    With a laser welder you can repair watches with deployment buckles, where the rivet holding the strap piece on has come off. Stainless steel is difficult at best to solder, but with a laser you can put the rivet back in and just use the laser to tack rivet on both sides. Stainless steel watch bands can be repaired that once would have needed to be replaced.
  • Creating made-to-order pieces
    The laser makes it much easier to assemble rings with multiple heads.
  • Fixing mistakes:
    When setting stones and a prong breaks, a zap with a laser will fix it. To rebuild castings that have not completely filled, the laser is used to add metal wherever the fill was incomplete.
  • Removing broken drill bits and small broken diamonds
    Instead of loosing the metal work around the broken drill bit or diamond, we can simply vaporize it.
